Finnish jazz scene in jazzahead!


The next edition of jazzahead! takes place from April 19 to 22. Fimic co-produces the Finnish booth together with the Finnish Jazz Federation and Music Export Finland.

jazzahead! is an international trade fair and showcase for jazz music, organized in Bremen, Germany every year. jazzahead! has grown rapidly and is today one of the most significant trade fairs and showcase platforms for jazz in Europe.

This year’s edition features three Finnish groups on Saturday, as Slo Motive and Defekt will perform in European jazz Meeting, and the Finnish double bass and accordion duo Lepistö & Lehti will hit the club scene.

Slo Motive is a trio with charismatic singer Sanni Orasmaa, well-known pianist Kari Ikonen and percussionist Mamba Assefa. Defekt on the other hand is a cross over jazz group that presents a mix of jazz, rock, alternative pop and very skillful free improvisation led by saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen.

*Update: Verneri Pohjola will also be playing at jazzahead!. Jens Thomas & Verneri Pohjola duo will be playing music by AC/DC on Friday at ACT Company's stand.
