Tarujen saari

by Harri Römpötti :: 2004

Tarujen saari, formed in 1996, is a musical time machine. They unearth medieval music, both notated and recorded, from all across Europe: England, Scotland, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden and, of course, Finland. The group writes original music as well, and often dresses up in medieval costumes.

Tarujen saari have appeared at the Kaustinen and Rääkkylä festivals, as well as at various popular medieval festivals in Finland, The Netherlands, Belgium and Lithuania. The group's three latest albums each have a central theme: love, death and pacifism respectively. The oldest known anti-war songs date all the way back to the 16th century.
