Markku Klami's new works home and abroad
Markku Klami's new work Göreme (2009, for guitar and tape) will be premiered in Helsinki on 26 September 2009, as part of Ears Open society's concert focusing on Italian and Finnish guitar music. All of the works performed at the concert have been written for guitarist Patrik Kleemola, and altogether five of the works will get world premieres there.
Kleemola will be performing Klami's new work also in Milan, Italy, on 8 October. Later in October, he will perform Klami's earlier guitar work Cinque miniature (2005–2006), along with works by Einojuhani Rautavaara and Harri Suilamo, in Rome. The concert will take place on 12 October in the framework of Nuovi Spazi Musicali festival.
Klami's music will be heard even in Stockholm in October: his work In singleness… for soprano and chamber orchestra (2007) will get its first performance outside Finland on 4 October in a concert titled "The Music of Shakespeare". The work will be performed by soprano Minna Laukkanen, symphony orchestra Pro Musica, and conductor Glenn Mossop.
