| Tapani Länsiö (b. October 22, 1953) teaches history of music and theory of music at the Sibelius Academy (teacher 1979–93, tenured teacher 1993–). He studied the piano with Meri Louhos and composition with Joonas Kokkonen and Paavo Heininen at the Sibelius Academy. He completed his diploma examination in the theory of music in 1988. Länsiö is a regular contributor to the leading Finnish daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat (1987–), artistic director of the Polytech Choir, the male voice choir of the Helsinki University of Technology (1984–) and composer-in-residence of the Jyväskylä Sinfonia (1997–). He is also the author of several popular radio programmes. |
