Arto Järvelä plays fiddle in the USA

A master of Finnish pelimanni music, Arto Järvelä, will release a new CD of music for solo fiddle. The new recording carries the title Arto Järvelä Plays Fiddle Vol. 2, Cross-tuned, and it will be out on 7 June.

Following the release, Järvelä will tour USA with duo Kaivama. Järvelä's solo fiddling will be heard in several locations 8 - 17 June, covering, for example, Chicago, Duluth and Minneapolis. The tour also includes a workshop at Camp Lahti, Hancock, MI, on 13 - 14 June.

Although Järvelä is primarily known as a member of esteemed groups and project combos, such as JPP and Nordik Tree, he has also released several solo recordings. Previously released albums are Polska Differente (1994), Arto Järvelä Plays Fiddle (1999), as well as Arto Järvelä Far In! (2004), the last mentioned including multi-track recordings of his own compositions with Järvelä himself playing guitar, mandolin, mandola, kantele, percussion, kalimba and fiddle.
