Arttu Takalo: Jazz Artist of the Year
Vibraphonist Arttu Takalo (28) has been nominated as the Artist of the Year by Pori Jazz Festival.
Arttu Takalo is a virtuoso player who has created new venues for the sound of vibraphone. He is also described as an important creator of style among the young generation of Finnish jazz musicians.
Takalo started his career as percussionist in the Kouvola City Orchestra. He studied at the Sibelius Academy jazz department 1991-1997. He is one of the founder members of the famous XL band. He plays jazz as well as rock, chamber and orchestral music, and has collaborated even with the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra.
