Joensuu 1685 to EuroSonic with five other Finnish acts
Joensuu 1685 has been chosen as the Finnish representative to EuroSonic Noorderslag, a significant European showcase festival and conference taking place in January 2010. The ambitious indie-rock trio released their first album in September 2008. The self-titled debut was acclaimed by Finnish media and acknowledged also in the foreign reviews. The official Finnish representative is chosen by the Finnish Music Information Centre Fimic, the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE and YleX radio station.
Besides Joensuu 1685, five versatile up-to-date Finnish acts have made their way to the showcase selection of EuroSonic: Jaakko&Jay, VUK, Manna, I Was A Teenage Satan Worshipper and Jesse.
EuroSonic Noorderslag takes place 14-16 January 2010 in Groningen, the Netherlands. With 2600 attendants and over 100 panels and meetings, EuroSonic is an increasingly important yearly discussion and networking platform for the European music industry. The showcases present 250 new and upcoming European bands.
EuroSonic also functions as a platform for the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP). The objective of the ETEP is to facilitate the circulation of artists and productions in Europe and encourage the cooperation of European music industry and media in promoting acts and repertoire. ETEP is coordinated by the European Music Office that also Fimic is a member of. Major Finnish festivals Ilosaarirock, Provinssirock and Ruisrock are ETEP members and will attend EuroSonic to scout for new talent.
