Tonight at Noon pay tribute to Charles Mingus

A band of top musicians of the young Finnish jazz generation, Tonight at Noon, combines the talents of André Sumelius (drums), Mikko Innanen (sax), Jussi Kannaste (sax), Jukka Eskola (trumpet), and Mikko Helevä (organ). Formed in 2008, the group has now released its debut album by Prophone Records, and it will tour in Finland from 13 to 29 April.

The new album is a tribute to the legendary bass player Charles Mingus (1922-1979), and the CD is fittingly named To Mingus, With Love. The innovative and energetic interpretations of the Mingus compositions have made Tonight at Noon also a sought-after live performer, and the record release tour, produced by the Finnish Jazz Federation, will take the group around Finland in April. The band will play, for example, at Espoo's April Jazz, as well as at the Flame jazz clubs in Turku.

To Mingus, With Love is the second album in Prophone's Finnish Jazz series. The first album of the Swedish record company's series was Joonatan Rautio Trio's Commitment , released in 2010. The new album of Tonight at Noon will be released internationally on 26 April.
