Chisu won five Emma Awards
The Emma Awards (Finnish Grammy Awards) was handed out in several categories last Friday (20 Jan). Five of the awards went to Chisu (including: Best Album of the Year, Best Music Video of the Year, Best Female Singer of the Year) whose album entitled Kun valaistun gained double platinum status in Finland last year.
The Artist of the Year award was given to Lauri Tähkä and the Indie Album of the Year award to Regina's Soita mulle album. Children of Bodom's Relentless Reckless Forever was the Metal Album of the Year.
Other winners include Michael Monroe, Nightwish, Sunrise Avenue, Jare & VilleGalle and Tuure Kilpeläinen.
IFPI Finland also handed out two special Emma awards to rock group Apulanta and to music journalist/radio producer Jukka Haarma for their long time achievements in the Finnish music business.
Some of the Emma Awards were already given in December 2011. The winners back then were: Iro Haarla Quintet (Best Jazz Album of the year), Freija (Best World Music Album of the Year), Sebastian Fagerlund (Best Classical Album of the Year), Traktori (Best Children's Album of the Year), Chisu (Best Producer of the Year) and Jukka Poika (Best Live Act of the Year).
