World premiere from from Max Savikangas at the Järvenpää Sibelius Week 2009-2010
New works from Max Savikangas will be premiered at the Järvenpää Sibelius Week -festival in November. Savikangas is a founder member of the Uusinta Chamber Ensemble, a talented musician and composer, and was chosen as the Järvenpää Sibelius Week’s composer of the year 2009. On November 7 the Uusinta Ensemble premieres Savikangas’ Quintetto for kantele, live-electronics and string quartet, commissioned by kantele-player Eeva Alkula. The concert is dedicated to Savikangas, and besides the two world premieres the program includes also his works Azonal Advice for slo viola,Thai (Thaimaalainen) for alto and piano and Blood Brain Barrier (Veriaivoeste), sonata for violoncello and piano.
Finnish music is quite strongly present also in other Järvenpää Sibelius Week events. For example an interesting collaboration between Sibelius-Academy and The University of Texas will be seen in Einojuhani Rautavaara’s opera The House of the Sun which will be performed at the Järvenpää house on 14 and 15 November.
