Finnish electro-acoustic music performed by new Finnish group Defunensemble

On 25 November Sibelius-Academy will be hosting an interesting electro-acoustic music concert. The concert is centered around a new Finnish electro-acoustically focused group Defunensemble, founded in 2008. The group is coordinated by composer Sami Klemola whose work Härhä for postcard weevil and cracklebox will have its world premiere in the concert held at the Sibelius-Academy Concert Hall. The concert programme includes also another Finnish electro-acoustic work, Juhani Nuorvala’s Concertino for bass clarinet and electronics.

Defunensemble has also collaborated with Finnish Association of experimental electronics (Koelse). As a result of the two groups’ effort a new collaboration work for ensemble and electronics will be premiered in the concert.

The concert will be supplemented with a panel discussion about electro-acoustic music and its styles held after the concert with the support of Finnish Doctoral Program of Music, Theatre and Dance.
