Jouni Kaipainen :: 24 November 1956
| Jouni Kaipainen studied at the Sibelius Academy under Aulis Sallinen (1973–1976) and Paavo Heininen (1976–1980). Since 1980 he has been a free composer and a free-lance writer. In 1981 his "Trois morceaux de l’aube" won first prize in the category for works by composers under the age of 30 at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers. He was awarded the Finnish “Spurs of Criticism” for the most significant debut in 1982. He has written hundreds of articles, essays, papers and columns on music and culture for the press, radio, etc. In 2004 Kaipainen has run the Avanti! Summer Sounds festival (Porvoo, Finland) as its Artistic Director. |
