City of London Festival explores the latitude of 60°N
The City of London Festival, spreading out in London in June and July, will concentrate this year to the music from the latitude of 60°N. Among the Russian, Scottish and Norwegian music, for example, is also a fair share of Finnish music.
Britten Sinfonia will perform Einojuhani Rautavaara's 'Fiddlers' and Esa-Pekka Salonen's 'Stockholm Diary' (UK Premiere) together with the Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi on 2 July. The flourishing young Finnish string quartet Meta4 will have an all-Finnish concert on 8 July with works by Jaakko Kuusisto, Kaija Saariaho and Jean Sibelius.
The festival will also include an evening of Finnish tango on 3 July. On stage will be Duo Milla Viljamaa & Johanna Juhola, as well as Tango Orchestra Unto.
